How to get to Reggio Emilia

The via Emilia (SS 9) splits the Province of Reggio Emilia into two halves, in a straight line east to west. Running parallel to via Emilia is the main A1 motorway from Milan to Rome, a direct link between Reggio Emilia, Milan (150 Km) and Bologna (60Km). Parma is just 27 Km away and Modena 25 Km.
The SS 63 road links Reggio Emilia with Mantua to the North and La Spezia to the south across the Apennine Mountains of Reggio Emilia. The Reggiolo-Rolo exit on the A22 motorway links the province of Emilia-Romagna to the rest of Northern Europe.
Reggio Emilia has a station on the main Milan-Bologna railway line and work is currently underway on the station for the new High Speed track, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. Calatrava also designed the spectacular suspension bridge across the A1 motorway near the Reggio Emilia exit.
There are several local lines serving the Province of Reggio Emilia, serving the areas of Canossa, Scandiano-Sassuolo and Guastalla.
The nearest airports are at Bologna and Parma.
